EXPANSION COEFFICIENTS?HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE?

These are all part of the language we use each day as we apply our expertise to waterproof and restore your building exterior.

When you are charged with protecting and maintaining a building, you want a reliable team of results-focused  experts to come in and take care of their work, with minimal interruption to your daily operations.  We are happy to go into detail about each term,  but at the end of the day, we know you just want to be assured that the leak has been repaired and the problem solved.

MASONRY REPAIR

Building movement can lead to structural cracks in concrete surfaces. Structural cracks not only allow water to penetrate a building, which can lead to spalling, but they can also lead to further structural damage and jeopardize the integrity of the building.  Urban Waterproofing employs a variety of techniques to solve these problems, both before they happen and during a remedial repair. Some of these solutions include chemical grout injection, epoxy injection, spall removal and repair, sealant replacement, and elastomeric wall coating systems.

SEALANTS

Window perimeters, building panels, and other joints are the primary areas that require special caulking in order to create a moisture barrier, while allowing for natural structural movement. Every joint of a building needs to be sealed and made waterproof. A good caulking job combines meticulous preparation, the proper application of backing rods and sealant, and expert tooling to achieve an a seal that is both aesthetically pleasing and weatherproof.

PROTECTIVE WALL COATINGS

Functioning as the building envelope’s primary barrier against the elements, wall finishes like elastomeric coatings both beautify and protect.  While the selection of colors is endless, the building finish must be carefully selected to make sure it can perform its core functions of bridging hairline cracks while allowing the substrate to breathe.

TRAFFIC COATING

There are a variety of traffic coating finishes available, each with characteristics designed specifically for the conditions where the coating will be applied.  Aliphatic urethanes are harder and more puncture-resistant, while aromatic urethanes are softer and more flexible.  Epxoy coatings are extremely hard, but can be brittle due to their rigidity.  Knowing the stresses a deck will be subject to is key in selecting the right traffic coating.

EPOXY & GROUT INJECTION

Much of the work of the injection scopes occurs out of sight.  Epoxies are injected through cracks into the concrete substrate to reinforce the strength of the concrete in weakened areas.  Grout injection is often installed all the way on the other side of the slab, where, after contact with water, expands and hardens to form a protective barrier.
