A six building office campus located in Silicone Valley, Menlo Corporate Center was experiencing leaks from the foundation walls at the building perimeter. Simpson Gumpertz and Heger designed a robust waterproofing system, requiring excavation of the landscaping soil next to the building, then installation of a Bituthane sheet membrane, complete with termination bars and detailing with Liquid Membrane. With the waterproofing intact, the drainage mat and protection board were installed before the foundation drain and landscaping were restored. Finally, a stainless steel counterflashing was installed at the top of the drain mat and protection board, and the above-grade portions of the concrete walls were coated with Dow All Guard silicone coating.
